As far as I remember myself in my childhood, I could not resist to the charm of old, black- and- white photos—most of them came from my mother’s younger years—during my visits to my grandmother’s home.
I am sure that each of us has been captivated by the magical atmosphere that these photos exude. It’s not only the portraits but also the land that these photos depict. Our land, our roots.
Having lived on an island, as cosmopolitan and famous as Mykonos is, I have always been eager to explore the past. My first goal was the history of my husband’s family. Lots of photos that my father in-law kept at the time as well as photos of my husband’s grandfather, Nicolas—the owner of one of the most photographed windmills in the world— can be viewed on the internet. A perfect match of technology with wisdom tracing back to the old days.
For a long time, I had been thinking of this journey into the beauty and authenticity of these old photos. It is about time that I made this dream true.
Please note that all black-and-white photos published are original.
